Pineapple
Tainung-series pineapples — sweet and low in acid, mainly in spring and summer.
Taiwan's pineapples are mostly the Tainung series bred by the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, with Tainung No. 17 (Golden Diamond) covering over 80% of the area. Each variety has its own character — Sweet Honey is tender, Honey Treasure intensely fragrant and Mango Pineapple carries a mango note. Japan is the main market, with the best quality from March to July.
